Is It Time to Start Using LinkedIn Articles? (Yes. Here’s Why.)

I’ll be honest. I just posted my first LinkedIn article. Not because I didn’t see the value (I’ve watched others do it well for years and have published for many clients), but because like many of you, I’ve been busy doing the work. That said, the minute I hit publish, I realized I’d been sitting on an underused opportunity for way too long.
If you’re a marketing director or business owner who’s been wondering whether LinkedIn’s “Create an Article” feature is worth your time, here’s a quick breakdown based on some of the most questions my team has been asked about using the LinkedIn Article feature.

Why Would My Company Post Articles on LinkedIn?

  1. They show you’re not just active. You’re thoughtful.  While regular posts disappear within days, articles live on your profile, are indexed by search engines, and can serve as long-term proof of your expertise.
  2. They’re built for depth.  If you’ve ever thought, “This post is too long for a status update,” it probably belongs in an article. Articles let you dive into strategy, share case studies, or give your take on trends with proper formatting and visuals.
  3. You can link to your website (and yes, it still matters).  Even though LinkedIn uses “nofollow” tags, linking back to your site helps drive traffic, build brand association, and invite deeper engagement. If someone reads to the end of your article, they’re likely a qualified lead.
  4. They increase visibility if you promote them.  Your first-degree connections may see your article in their feed. But pairing it with a short teaser post, adding hashtags, or sharing it via email can seriously boost reach.
  5. They build your digital footprint.  Every article becomes part of your professional content library. When someone checks out your profile, they don’t just see your job title. They see your voice, your values, and your perspective.

What’s the Right Cadence?

You don’t need to write weekly to see results. One quality article per month is a realistic cadence for most business leaders. Consistency matters more than volume. Think of it as another touchpoint in your content ecosystem that keeps your expertise front and center.

Blog or LinkedIn Article? Both — With Intention

Think of LinkedIn articles as a distribution channel, not a replacement for your blog. Repurpose content thoughtfully:

  • Post a full article on LinkedIn to reach a wider, professional audience.
  • Add a short version with a link back to your blog to drive website traffic.
  • Or vice versa. Test what resonates most with your audience.

If you’re not blogging consistently, LinkedIn can even be your primary publishing platform until you’re ready to build a full content engine.

I’m glad I finally took the leap, and I am a bit embarrassed to admit it. If you’ve been on the fence, consider this your nudge to consider the potential. Reach out if you want to talk more about how and why this could be a good fit for your digital marketing plans.
